Description
You must use a ZC version of at least 1151. Go to the ZC Change Log to get the latest version. This is due to a bug with the mouse in old versions not going up into the subscreen.
Also, I'd like to ask that people rate this on the concept and the actual Tower Defense engine.
Anyway, I'm sure a lot of you all have played a Tower Defense game before, be it either in Warcraft 3, Starcraft, or simply a flash game online. Still, I'll go over the basics as well as the controls for this game. Concept The concept of this game is simply that there are a waves of enemies that rush to get to the end of a course. In order to stop them, you must build "towers" (solders and fairies in this game) to attack and kill the enemies as they come at you. However, these towers cost money, which you gain from killing enemies. So you have to be wise about what towers you place where. Controls Unlike most ZC games, this game is controlled entirely by the mouse! To select a tower to build, simply click on the tower in the row of tower choices in the subscreen, then move the mouse to where you want to place it. Left click, and bam, the tower is placed (if you have the money). If you want to cancel making a tower, simply right click. Something to note is that when you are building a tower, red squares will go over all places where you cannot build. These include the enemy track, solid areas like cliffs and trees, and where there are already towers. A red x will appear if you either don't have the money to buy the tower or if the place is unbuildable. A white circle outlines the tower's range. What's in this demo? This is merely a fraction of what will be included in the full game. There are 3 towers and 3 rounds of enemies. In the end, I'm wanting to have 15 towers and roughly 30-40 rounds of enemies. Towers 1. Bow Guard (costs 15) (Green) - Attacks with a single arrow at short range. 2. Longbow Guard (costs 25) (Blue) - Attacks with a single arrow at a longer range. 3. Fire Fairy (costs 40) - Attacks with a long-range fireball that does splash damage. What's to come? When I can finish this, I'm hoping to make a bunch of default maps to play on (probably 10 or more), then open it up to where you can create your own maps. I'll also probably release the code when I'm done. Notes and Suggestions: - Ignore any ugly tiles (like the x indicating that you cannot build and the mouse). I suck at creating tiles. If anyone wants to create some stuff for me, I'd appreciate it.
- Be efficient with where you build towers. Try to build them where they attack both branches. - Also pay attention to the yellow arrows in between rounds. They indicate the starting locations (they're in the top left and bottom left on the map, but when there are more maps in the future, you'll need to pay attention to them). - The music doesn't really fit. I just never bothered to change it yet.
- This is a rather script-heavy program. Unfortunately, if you're running on a slower computer, it may bog down. I dunno. Unfortunately due to having to work on other projects, I may have to wait to work on this anymore, so I decided to go ahead and release a demo to see what people think. Any suggestions or complaints?
