5. Grand Theft Auto III (PC)
6. Fable: The Lost Chapters (PC)
7. Pokémon Leaf Green (GBA)
8. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
9.

RE: Top 10 Favorite Games.
I never do mine in any particular order, because I can't debate a perfect favorite.

1.) Ancient Domains of Mystery (PCDL): Okay, most people probably haven't heard of this. Well. It's an ASCII game, in the first place. A roguelike. So it has no graphics really- everything is represented by symbols and letters. You might think this is stupid or annoying- but you get used to it soon enough (Use your imagination, too). When you generate a new character, the system gives you randomized perks, such as increased willpower, or increased chance to learn spells, better literacy, etc. You can choose either male or female, from many races ranging from humans, elves, dark elves, gnomes, dwarves, trolls, etc. and about 20 classes. Or you can play with luck and hit the random button to completely generate a random preset character. Afterward, you are given a series of questions you may answer (or have the system randomly answer for you) which will determine your alignment and maybe even a couple extra items or cash you start with. The plots and overworld are the same each time, as well as the missions you can go on...but every single dungeon is randomly generated. There is a dungeon with countless floors, and every floor is randomized and changes each time you leave it. I'm not talking about a few details. I'm talking about the entire layout. I could go on...or you could just google the game yourself. I'm going to go on with #2, though.

2.) Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure (GBA): This particular game is a rarity to find in the USA. Overall, it's a fairly fun, if easy (if played on easy or normal at least- I've yet to beat hard). It usually plays as a generic sidescroller with you in control of Son Goku (unless you play extra mode) through the plot of the Dragon Ball series. It follows it about 95% accurately, with a few exceptions here and there... but the main game really isn't what hooks me to playing this. It's the Arena Mode, which is essentially if Dragon Ball met Marvel vs. Capcom or one of those great fighting games. No character is over-powered, and some may have special attacks (like Goku's attack that killed King Piccolo in DB) but I prefer Krillin over that because he's fast as heck. No character is really under-powered or over-powered.

3.) Shining Force 2 (Genesis): I am amazed that this hasn't been remade for DS. It's prequel was remade for GBA, and the first one pales in comparison to this one. The Shining series (as it was originally) started as an RPG as Shining In The Darkness, but Shining Force changed the series to a strategy game, similar to that of Fire Emblem (except characters CAN BE REVIVED ASDF). Shining Force 2 is roughly twice as long as its prequel, with many more characters to choose from and such. Oh right, the plot. Basically, a thief stole 2 jewels from a shrine that locked away a powerful demon...and that's where it begins. Okay, so it sounds cliche. And it turns into a "save the princess". But as far as saving the princess goes, this one does a pretty damn good job of it! Because she's the last thing on your mind throughout the game. If you love strategy games, or heck, want to start playing them, I recommend this. Mind you, it is a bit difficult when first playing... (your first battle has you fighting with crappy wooden weapons >.>) but I find that the first Shining Force is a bit harder to start (even though I've yet to beat Shining Force 2).

4.) Final Fantasy III (NES or DS)

5.) Fallout 3 (360)

6.) Super Mario 64 DS

7.) Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast or GC)

8.) The Legend of Zelda (NES)

9.) Tales of the Abyss (PS2)

10.) Legend of Dragoon (PS1)

I felt explanations were needed for the less known ones...and I got lazy when I got to Legend of Dragoon.

RE: Top 10 Favorite Games.
In no particular order.

Jak and Daxter. My first 3D game, and still my favorite. The game has a great storyline, is really funny, and just altogether enjoyable. I have 101% completion, and I know the location of every power cell in the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It's like Ocarina of Time, but better. It took the already great system of OoT and improved it with tons of new items. I love the 3 day system, as it allows for really complex character relations. The storyline was very dark, and very good. And then there's the Stone Tower, my favorite part of any video game.

Super Mario Galaxy. I had high expectations, and this game blew them all away. Everything about it was perfect. The levels, the music, the concept, everything.

Super Mario World. My first ever video game. I think I know every single secret in it. It's definitely the best 2D Mario game, with really well-planned levels. The addition of Yoshi made the game even better.

Yoshi's Island. The prequel to Mario World was just as good. A wonderful concept, and wonderful execution. Especially the colorful graphics.

Mother 3. I could rave about this game for days. The storyline was the best I've ever seen in a game; so good that I actually cried during the ending. The battle system, with it's rolling HP counters and musical combos, was tons of fun. The clever ideas that went into are great. It's the perfect RPG.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles. This game was the high point of the Sonic series. It featured a great storyline, complete with cutscenes, a first for the series. The bosses were great, the levels were designed perfectly, and the Doomsday Zone (the first ever Super Sonic level) was just amazing.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion. You wouldn't think a game about surgery could be too fun. But this one is. The storyline was great, the gameplay was so fun, and the concept was brilliant.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The best in the series yet. So many different characters, and each one is different. The stages are wonderful. It features a superb collection of the best songs from Nintendo's main series. And the addition of a story mode was great.

Super Metroid. The final Metroid game made before the original creator died. It truly is a gem. The game is huge, with so many places to explore. Lots of clever items too, of course. And the (second to) last level, Ridley's Temple, was one of the most epic video game levels ever to be made.

RE: Top 10 Favorite Games.
I. Final Fantasy II PSP- Most mature of the series yet, with all but two of the party members that join die, as well as much cursing. And this stoyline does not fall around saving elemental Crystals, which is unique.

II. Final Fantasy III DS- Another great in the series, had the best Side areas and optional quests. Other Final Fantasy's have all areas required to be explored rather than optional.

III. Halo 3- Why wouldn't you finish the fight?

IV. Halo Custom Edition- I play this all the time. I have spent over 100 hours playing ( according to Xfire ) and surly will add more. See, HCE is not single player, it is all multi ( except fan made single player maps ) HCE is composed of custom made maps by fans. And there are some great maps, like Zelda OoT map, which you play as link instead of Master Chief, use swords not guns, ect. Or even Metroid maps, which is like Metroid Prime Online. Still, you will spend hours playing.

V. Metroid Fusion- Okay, this game was superb. To yet date, it has the greatest and heaviest story of all Metroid series. The item selection was just great, for the items were placed in rewarding areas. Though, only a few areas had great music, it all was played out splendid. Plus the return of Omega Metroid was surprising, I did not think it would come at the end, but a Ridley would come at the end.

VI. Majora's Mask- Other than Twilight Princess, this was the most mature Zelda. It had four true dungeons, and alot of dungeons in between which meant you'd better explore and get items and hearts, otherwise your total would have been 7 total hearts.

VII. Metroid Prime 2- Yet again, a mature game. The dark atmosphere was flawless in design, creatures, story which you would fallow, Metroid Prime 2 had it all.

VIII. Fable Lost Chapters- So much to do, so many quests to complete. Highly customizable.

IX. Halo 2- Heaviest story of all Halo's, new weapons and skins, not really much else to say.

X. Holic Online- Was an MMORPG, but discontinued. It was like Flyff, Florensia, but not so much cheesy and had great customizable selections. Though, I did hate the slow as hell leveling up.

RE: Top 10 Favorite Games.
Since when does cursing make a game better? Indifferent Overusing it is a bit immature, IMO. To quote one of my favorite teachers on the discussion of writing: "There is time for a well-placed damn, but that's about it." Besides, the original FF2 had plenty of it to begin with. Also, didn't 4 characters die? Scott, Minwu, Josef, and Ricard all did. Darn shame Josef did. Gordon should have taken his place.

Quote:Other Final Fantasy's have all areas required to be explored rather than optional.

You also need to play Final Fantasy 6, then.

Other than Twilight Princess. MM is much darker and more mature than TP. The game revolves around and a demonic artifact and a depressed child who tries to commit suicide and destroy an entire civilization with him! That's much darker than TP's new spin on the same old Zelda story.

RE: Top 10 Favorite Games.
MM had some upbeat light to it. TP had darker palettes, dark matter slaying off Hyrulian guards, though, MM did have some death in it. Zora band member, Goron dude....

Every Zelda game has death in it, remember those silly looking dudes that chase after you?
